Things to do in the area

Situated in a peaceful forest location yet easily accessible and is on the border with Wales. Close to towns for shopping, Monmouth and Ross on Wye. Walks are accessed directly from the garden. There are multiple Forest walks as well as direct walks to Symonds Yat view point & to the River Wye. The famous Saracens Head Pub is within walking distance along the river or from the view point at Symonds Yat.

There is a Forest Holidays cafe/shop within a 10/15 minute walk and the location offers multiple activities such as archery, adventure challenge, zip wire etc.
This is a fantastic location for pure relaxation, a walking holiday or an activity holiday with cycle trails, canoeing and rock climbing nearby. A paradise for bird watchers, nature lovers or dog walkers.

Our local pub is within a 10 mminute walk away. A 5 min drive takes you to our local shop. A 10/15 min walk from the cottage takes you to a forest cafe/shop. Within 20 mins drive are most supermarkets Waitrose, M&S, Lidl, Aldi, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrison’s, Co-Op

No need to travel as you can walk directly from the cottage into the Forest from the garden. Beneath the cottage are direct walks to Symonds Yat Rock and to the river Wye and the beautiful Mailscot Wood Trail walk amongst many others as well as cycling trails. At the river Wye you can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, climbing, abseiling, gorge scrambling and rafting. There are multiple attractions for all ages; arts and crafts, birds of prey, bushcraft, canoeing, climbing, cycling, diving, fishing, flying, go Ape, horses and trekking, kayaking, paddle board, paintball and laser, shooting, walking. Within easy reach are many historic sites including Goodrich castle, Tintern Abbey& Herford Cathedral which houses the Mappa Mundi, one of the world's unique medieval treasures. There is simply something for everyone.
